ICS Learn Launches New Coaching & Mentoring Faculty with CMI

We’re excited to introduce our new Coaching and Mentoring faculty, expanding our Chartered Management Institute (CMI) portfolio.

The new faculty offers three CMI Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring qualifications for those looking to build practical coaching and mentoring skills within a management or leadership role. It also includes three CMI Level 5 Professional Coaching Practice qualifications for those who want to develop their professional coaching knowledge and capabilities.

A dedicated CMI Level 5 Diploma in Professional Coaching Practice is also available for learners in the Middle East.

The new faculty gives learners a dedicated pathway to develop coaching and mentoring skills, with options that reflect their experience, career goals and how they want to use coaching in their role.

“Coaching and mentoring skills can be valuable at many different stages of a management or professional career,” says Gerwyn House, Director of Education and Skills at ICS Learn. “By bringing together qualifications at Levels 3 and 5, we can support learners who want to become more effective at developing others, as well as those looking to build their capabilities in professional coaching practice.”

Building Coaching and Mentoring Skills at Level 3

The CMI Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring qualifications are designed for supervisors and first line managers who want to develop practical coaching and mentoring skills to support individuals and teams and help them achieve their objectives.

Learners can explore areas such as the principles and impact of coaching and mentoring, individual and team needs, managing coaching and mentoring relationships, coaching and mentoring processes, and evaluating progress and outcomes.

At Level 3, learners can choose from an Award, Certificate or Diploma, depending on the depth of study they’re looking for. The CMI Level 3 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring is the most comprehensive option. Learners complete five mandatory coaching and mentoring units alongside additional optional study, with options covering areas such as organisational culture, team dynamics, or equality and diversity.

Developing Professional Coaching Practice at Level 5

At CMI Level 5, the focus moves into Professional Coaching Practice.

These qualifications are designed for learners who want to develop the knowledge and behaviours needed to coach professionally, with an emphasis on effective practice, ethical behaviour and continued professional development.

Depending on the qualification they choose, learners can explore areas including professional coaching principles, the role of the professional coach, coaching relationships, strategies and techniques, practical coaching delivery, and reflective development.

The Level 5 suite is suited to a range of learners, including aspiring or practising Professional Coaches, Leadership Coaches and Learning & Development Managers, as well as managers who use coaching as part of their role.

Learners can again choose between an Award, Certificate or Diploma, depending on how extensively they want to develop their professional coaching practice.

Alongside our online Level 5 options, learners in the Middle East will also be able to study the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Professional Coaching Practice through live, tutor-led online classes.

The course combines the flexibility of online learning with scheduled teaching, giving learners regular opportunities to engage with experienced tutors, discuss course topics and connect their learning with real workplace coaching situations.

Learners on the Middle East programme will study four modules:

  • Principles of Professional Coaching (6 credits)
  • The Role of the Professional Coach (9 credits)
  • Strategies for Delivering Professional Coaching (7 credits)
  • Professional Coaching Practice (15 credits)

“For learners developing towards professional coaching practice, it’s important to have opportunities to discuss ideas and learn from real workplace scenarios,” explains Dafina Krasteva, General Manager (UAE) at ICS Learn. “Our live sessions are designed to create that space while supporting learners to reflect on different approaches.”
